Hi, I'm Greg Kling. I'm a CPA with a practice in Cerritos, California. We have approximately 30 staff, and I've been with Sterling in Glendale, CA just a little bit over 10 years. So I'd have to say that some of our biggest wins are that, well, number one we've more than doubled the practice since we've been with Sterling. I'd say also, as well, there's a lot more organization now.
Before Sterling, we felt very disorganized; people didn't really know what their roles were and what was expected of them. And now we have a very smooth-flowing practice. We all know what our roles are, and we really have this attitude of helping each other. Let's say that my viewpoint as an owner and as an executive of the practice has changed. This way; I used to feel like staff were doing their jobs, but they really didn't know what they were doing.
And I would always wonder, "Why didn't they understand?" and I would always get frustrated that—I felt like they should understand. I felt like any reasonable person would understand. And yet there was still a lot of miscommunication and frustration.
Since being with Sterling, they've really helped me to understand the staff better, to communicate better to tell them what's expected of them. And I really feel now, that for all the years that we've been with Sterling, what I've really seen is that our staff now look at themselves as partners in our practice, and not just as people collecting paychecks. So I'd have to say that I've had a lot of personal wins from being with Sterling, probably too many to remember right now. But a few of the bigger ones are: number one, I'd have to say that it's really helped improve my communication level and understanding. What I mean by that is, is as I used to feel like the staff just weren't getting it. And I didn't know what to do. I was very frustrated and now I really feel like I've gotten to know them better. It's very genuine. They tell me what it is that's important to them. I tell them what's important to me, and we really work together as partners, and it's just... it's been wonderful. I think I would also say that with Sterling, it's helped me to find the time for personal endeavors, and just to have a better quality of life. One of the things that I am able to do now, as a result, is even though I have a thriving practice, I teach a lot in the local community and that's something that's always been a passion of mine. And I think that Sterling really helped me find a way to get that extra free time, so I could do some other things that I really want to do.
Again, my name is Greg Kling. I'm a CPA with an accounting practice of about 30 people in Cerritos, California. Sterling has been amazing. I'm so happy we've been with them all these years, and I definitely would recommend them to anybody who's looking for help.
