"When I decided there was room for improvement, I had been running my practice for seven or eight years, and there were a lot of factors I was looking at, but the main one was that I was not able to specialize as I wanted to," says Dairel Denten, CPA, from Poplar Bluff, Missouri.

"I wanted the higher rates and greater profitability which go with specializing , and I wanted to spend more time with my family, but I couldn't. I was still working the horrendous hours during tax seasons, nights and weekends, I had sworn when I got my own practice I would get out of that, but here I was, still doing the same thing.

"I must have said to myself half a dozen times that I really needed to do something about the situation. Finally I sent off to two or three companies. When I got the videotape Sterling sends out, I put it on and found myself nodding my head in agreement with the things they had to say.

"For me, the most important part of the management technology, the part that solved my problem, is the organizing board. This system allowed my accounting practice to operate and expand, without me being the hub of everything that went on. I didn't have to answer everything myself; I had time to get some specialized things done."

Once the staff got the hang of it, the staff were pleased to know what they were responsible for and that they were expected to take care of those duties without constant supervision.

"You just need to educated that staff, get them to put forth the effort and once they see the system work, they become its biggest supporters."

Dairel believes one of the reasons for his success with Sterling was the custom-tailored program done for his office.

"It's like when you're giving advice to a client, you're going to have to give different advice, customized to different clients. Similarly, Sterling won't give every client the same advice, they meet with you, do surveys and tests. The whole system takes the blinders off you so you can see possible solutions to problems."

"If I were talking to a CPA, I would say order the video and look at it."
